Fly Agaric fancy

23rd October 2021

fleeting fantasy arise

caped ephemeral land

dressed with best seasonal colours

I return again

stealthy, standing

in salute, my dog and I

protected, invested, grounded

with breath held, astounded

quiet settlement unseen

This self-authored poetry and photography celebrates a village of Fly Agaric (Amanita Muscaria) fungi residing in a local wood on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. Images were captured with a Sony A7iii (24-105mm G OSS) on 22.10.2021 and edited in Lightroom. The first image was printed in The Bolton News on 26.10.2021 as 'Picture of the day'.
