This collection was put together for a photography club project. The assignment was right up my street as I enjoy the liminal space created through poetry and regular swim in the depths of philosophical ideas. You may've noticed.

 

To offer context: Ostranenie (остранение) is a 20th century Russian word arriving from literary criticism. It was coined by Victor Shklovsky who wrote about the notion of ostranenie as 'estrangement', a means of breaking down ways of seeing and experiencing the world. To adopt an ostranenie lens allows for opening up perception to look upon the familiar in new ways. Photography is one of many ways to explore this idea.
